Finding out about real fruit

Students using iPads

The Little Birds have been exploring real fruit and vegetables using their senses.  They have been talking about how and where they are grown, referring to the map of the world.  The iPads were used safely by the Nursery pupils to look up information on the internet by scanning a QR code, supporting their technology skills and developing their knowledge about real fruit items.

They enjoyed using safety knives to cut and prepare their own fruit to eat, which developed their fine motor skills and independence. The children then played a guessing game with real items of fruit and vegetables in a felt bag. The children talked about healthy eating as well as likes and dislikes.

First Aid Day

The Little Birds recapped the role of doctors, nurses, paramedics and other medical practitioners.  They enjoyed pretending to carry out First Aid tasks in the environment using the pretend medical kits.

The children chose to share some personal experience of their visits to the doctors, hospitals and when they felt unwell when passing around a soft toy who had a plaster on and was pretending to be sick.

LAD Day

Our Nursery children class of 2025 spoke in a positive way about their favourite activities, which they enjoy carrying out with their friends.

Books we shared this week:

  • Oliver’s Fruit Salad
  • Oliver’s Vegetables
  • Going to the Hospital

Have a happy half term break Little Birds.
