On Wednesday 21st May 2025, Leigh Academy Dartford hosted their first ever Careers Fair! With an exciting mix of professionals from a wide range of industries, our Year 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to explore different career paths, ask questions and gain valuable insights into the world of work.

From the moment the doors opened, the energy was buzzing. The event was designed to open students’ eyes to both traditional and unconventional career routes, and it certainly delivered!

We had a stall hosted by a biomedical engineer, who explained how engineering and medical science come together to improve lives. Right next door, our NHS nurses spoke passionately about their roles, sharing their experiences from the front lines of healthcare and highlighting the many opportunities within the NHS.

In a completely different creative space, students were captivated by a face painting and Henna artist, who demonstrated how art can be turned into a thriving business. Adding to the creative buzz was an advert designer for the internet, who shared insights into how digital advertising works and the skills needed to succeed in online media.

The careers fair also welcomed a virtual PA, who explained how technology is transforming the way businesses operate, especially in the new way of working remotely. Representing the world of law, a solicitor took the time to walk students through the different pathways into the legal profession, and what daily life is like as a lawyer.

Meanwhile, the logistics manager from DHL gave an energetic talk on how the supply chain keeps businesses moving- bringing in bags and stationary for the children to take home! The event also featured representatives from the police, who not only explained their vital role in keeping communities safe but also outlined the many different roles available within the force.

The final stall belonged to an international karate coach. More than just a sporting career, the coach spoke about discipline, travel and teaching others.

Overall, the Careers Fair was a huge success, offering students a chance to dream big, ask questions and explore a diverse range of careers. We are so proud of the curiosity and enthusiasm shown by our students and grateful to all the visitors who gave their time to inspire the next generation.
