We are Artists

We have been exploring the artist Kandinsky and creating our own versions of his art using different shapes. We put each of the children’s individual pieces together to create our own larger version of Kandinsky’s circle painting.  Every child had the opportunity to create their own piece of art using a variety of different materials. This could have been through paint, pens, crayons, collage or clay. The children created some amazing pieces of artwork.  They then wrote about what they created as their focus writing activity that week.

Little Red Riding Hood

Our Reception children have really enjoyed exploring the story of the Little Red Riding Hood. It began with reading the story together and then coming up with their own actions to help them remember it.  It has been a week of creating our own puppets and then using the lego to create a scene for them, retelling the story using hand puppets, creating a story map, acting the story out in groups, drawing our own ‘S’ plans etc. The children have been focussing on teamwork and learning to work in groups. They have been working together to create their own models.
