This week the Little birds have been finding out more about what happens in the Reception classes within our school.
The children had the opportunity to ask questions to the teachers and pupils of the early years classes who came to the nursery during the whole class time.
The Little birds were very excited to visit their classes on swap day to explore the environment, meet their new teachers and a few new friends.
Some children chose to draw the teachers from reception independently.
We also looked at the book:
‘Baby goes to Market’.
We enjoyed juicing oranges in the water tray and sharing our likes and dislikes about food and fruit at keygroup time.
The children spoke about where they lived and about visiting shops and markets in comparison to the characters in the story book.
For example: ‘I live in Dartford’, ‘I live in England’
‘I went to the Dartford Market’, ‘I went to the open outdoor market at Bluewater’
They also set themselves a challenge to carry some resources safely around the outdoors on their head just like Mama did in the book.
The Little birds have been very interested in learning their phonics. They wrote some letters in the shaving foam and repeated the sounds as they made their marks with enthusiasm.
