This week Little Birds have been finding out where ladybirds come from and have looked at their life cycles, comparing it to the life cycles of chicks. We used our knowledge and communication skills to take part in discussions and draw representations of their life cycles.
Little Birds have been looking at the shape of ladybirds and their features; developing our counting and recognition of patterns.
We made ladybird models from clay and other textured materials and resources available in the provision. This supported the development of expressive arts and design.
This week’s stories we listened to were ‘The Bad Tempered Ladybird’, ‘A Good Place’ and ‘The Sharing Shell’.
Some of us chose our favourite stories and nonfiction books from the school library to bring back to the Nursery class for a sharing task with the practitioner.
How do we keep safe at Nursery and around our community?
Little Birds have also been inquiring about how to be safe at Nursery within our environment.
We were good communicators sharing ideas as to how to be ‘Green to go’. Some of us made signs to link with this subject.
We enjoyed playing a sorting game of different scenarios: picture cards of safe and unsafe pictures. Little Birds used our thinking skills and knowledge to enable them to be sorted appropriately.
We were so proud to show our practitioners how safe we can be with the safety knives when cutting tomatoes in the home area kitchen as well as cutting dough with the scissors.
Another proud moment at tidy up time.
‘Look I am being safe carrying the scissors!’
Well done!
