This week Little Birds have been looking at the story of ‘Chapatti Moon’. It reminded us of The Runaway Pancake because the animals chase the Chapati.
Little Birds used our creative skills and imagination to paint representations of a Chapatti moon. We explored colour mixing with paint and small paint brushes.
We tasted Chapattis and different types of breads. We all used our senses to explore the breads, we recalled the flavours and textures.
We talked about what happened in the story ‘Chapatti Moon’ when drawing maps. Enhancing our storytelling skills, mark making and geography.
Little Birds learnt about the importance of washing hands when eating and preparing food.
We operated and handled children’s safety knives carefully when preparing food in the Nursery.
Some of us chose to make their own orange juice.
Little Birds spoke about healthy and unhealthy food in small groups.
Some of us made plates of food out of paper cutting pictures from a food magazine.
Following the Little Birds interest and enjoyment in singing and reciting the currant bun song, the practitioners changed the words to 5 Chapatis in a bakers shop.
Developing our mathematics and counting skills within 5.
What an amazing week of learning and inquiring everyone had in the Nursery well done.
