New Beginnings: Signs of Spring and Easter

This week in Little Birds, we explored the celebration of Easter, focusing on themes of new life and renewal. We discussed the changes that happen at this time of year, such as the birth of lambs and chicks, as well as how Christians celebrate Easter.

To deepen our understanding, the children observed the church on St Albans Road from the school’s main entrance, noting its features and significance in our local community. We then used non-fiction books to learn more about church buildings and their role in worship.

The Little Birds eagerly shared their ideas and personal experiences, strengthening their communication skills while discussing this special place of worship and others they may have visited.

This week, the children also explored their expressive arts and design skills through hands-on activities. They enjoyed creating Easter collages, carefully selecting textured materials to add depth and detail to their artwork. Some of us painted beautiful daffodil pictures using fine brushes and ready-mixed paint, practising precision and creativity.

The Little Birds were captivated by the signs of spring in our garden and around the school grounds. They observed budding plants, colourful flowers and delicate blossoms on the trees, using iPads to capture photos of their discoveries.

During whole-class story time, we shared The Usborne Easter Story and Hot Cross Bunny, sparking conversations about Easter traditions and seasonal changes.

To end the week on a joyful note, we had an exciting egg hunt in the nursery garden.

🌸🐣 Happy Easter, Little Birds! Have a wonderful break! 🐰🌿
