We are garden landscapers!

This week, the children in key stage 2 enjoyed planting some new flowers in our boxes on the playground at lunchtime ready for Spring!

They followed some simple steps:

  1. Choose the Location – The children planted the flowers in wooden pots so that they are able to move them around in order for the flowers to get enough sunlight to grow.
  2. Dig, Dig, Dig – They used hand trowels to loosen the soil and dig holes deep enough for the plants to sit in comfortably.
  3. Plant the Flowers – They followed the instructions on  the pot to plant each type of flower. They gently removed most of the soil from the root ball, being careful not to damage the roots in the process. They patted the soil around the plant so it stood straight.
  4. Water – After the children had finished planting, they gave their flowers a drink of water. It is important not to overwater the plants otherwise the soil could get mouldy!

They are excited to see the flowers bloom over the next few months!
