Careers Fair

At Leigh Academy Dartford, we are passionate about ensuring our children learn about a wide range of professions. Careers are woven throughout our curriculum from Nursery to Year 6. In order to further enhance this, we are going to hold our first Careers Day on Wednesday 21st May 2025.

Why a careers fair?

We want our children to:

  • be inspired by different professions by providing them with the opportunity to speak to people in those careers
  • become aware of the range of jobs available in life, including running your own business or working for companies and organisations
  • begin to think about their futures and what career paths they could take
  • understand that what we do in school prepares them for later on in life.

What will it look like?

On Wednesday 21st May, we are inviting our Years 5 and 6 children to take part in the careers fair. The hall and playground (weather permitting!) will be transformed with stands from various employers from the world of work. The children will get the opportunity to talk to adults from the various businesses and organisations about their chosen careers.

Information they can find out will include:

  • which subjects they studied in school
  • which qualifications they needed
  • what experience they had

We need your help!

Would your business or organisation be able to run a stall at the careers fair? Perhaps you work for a large company, run a business, work in the public sector or are retired from a profession? We will supply a table and chairs, and electric points can be made available for a laptop or equipment if needed. You could bring along banners, hands-on activities and leaflets. We’ll provide refreshments to say thank you!

Do you have more information if I am interested in helping?

  • Wednesday 21st May 2025
  • Children will be visiting the stands between 9:30am and 11:30am.
  • Arrival from 8:45am.
  • We need to finish by 11:30am so that we can prepare for lunch.
  • There will be approximately 180 pupils visiting the stands during the morning.
  • You are welcome to bring ‘freebies’. Please avoid food items due to allergies.
  • Our children will be keen to engage with you and ask questions about your organisation.

If you are bringing resources that could require a risk assessment (e.g. foods, machines or chemicals etc), then please do let us know.

If you would like to inspire our children and take part, or you have any questions, please email info@dartford.latrust.org.uk and direct the email to our careers lead, Sammie Morton.

We really hope to see you there!
