People Who Help us in the Community

This week Little Birds have been learning  about people who help us in our community.

We have started to look at the different occupations in the story book ‘Real Superheroes’.

Little Birds were fascinated by the real stethoscopes and bandages they played imaginatively in the role play area as doctors. They learnt about the role of doctors, nurses and vets.

To develop their communication skills and understanding of health and self care, the children spoke to their friends about how to keep safe at home and explained which grown-ups help us if we are feeling unwell when administering medicine.

They enjoyed writing prescriptions, making their own medicine labels as well as writing appointments.

Little Birds learnt the songs connected with doctors and our bodies. They listened to the ‘Funny bones song’ and ‘Head’s, Shoulders, knees and toes’

The children looked at X-ray photographs and showed interest in the bones in the images, so they made skeleton pictures, using their thinking skills to join the cut out pieces together using glue.

Little birds also were inquirers looking at the square 2D shape, finding objects in the environment to match this shape. As well as continuing a pattern on the chalkboard.
