What happened in the story of The Ugly Duckling?

The Little Birds this week have been learning about the story The Ugly Ducking .

Looking at the different characters and how they felt.

The children enjoyed looking at  the story book themselves and retelling parts of the story with their friends.

Some children painted pictures of ponds and swans using fine brushes and various coloured paints.

After they went to visit the pond on a local walk to our sister school on the junior site to observe the frogs and living things in the pond.

One member of the Little birds Nursery shared a picture of her pond at home with the whole class.

They compared the characters of the Ugly Duckling story to themselves, speaking  and sharing ideas about the importance of being unique.

We celebrated diversity and differences.

The children drew portraits of themselves after looking at their features in the mirror.

Math focus this week was looking at positional language and completing different tasks to support this within the indoor/outdoors environment.

To end the week the Little birds Celebrate

World Book Day. We carried out many exciting and different activities to link with the story

” We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” in the environment.

A Little bird pupil enjoyed explaining to their friends that they enjoy reading ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ at home with their family members.
