Leigh Academy Dartford is thrilled to be able to now share with you that we have once again achieved the full ‘Investors in Careers’ Award. This is a nationally recognised quality mark for schools, colleges, and other providers that demonstrates a high-quality, impartial careers education, information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG) service. It verifies that we have met national guidance and benchmarks, such as the Gatsby Benchmarks, to prepare our pupils for their future careers.
Whilst this is not only a superb accolade on its own, it is even more unique to Leigh Academy Dartford, who, as of July 2025, are the only primary school in the South East of England, to have achieved this!
The report itself recognises the strengths of the academy’s curriculum and the impact it has had on our pupils.
- There is a very detailed written plan, the Careers Related Strategy Map, which is ambitious and imaginative.
- Career-related learning is integral within the School’s taught curriculum and beyond.
- Pupils spoke confidently about a variety of jobs they had explored as a result including archaeologists and IT consultants.
- Pupils interviewed as part of the assessment process demonstrated high levels of confidence, articulacy and rational thinking.
- Pupils spoke knowledgeably about careers and the jobs that people do as well as the skills they were developing.
- This has led to a range of enhanced learning opportunities across the curriculum and co-curriculum, in both skills development and information content.
- Teaching resources included are well designed to enable classroom based learning to be fun and imaginative.
We look forward to driving our careers provision even further this year as we build on our links with visitors and speakers to the Academy; introduce new careers to our curriculum overview; make new links to careers with our after schools clubs; and build on the success of our careers fair for our Year Five and Six students.
