What an incredible morning of tag rugby it was for our Year 5 and 6 children on Tuesday 1st April. The new team (all of whom had never played tag rugby before!) headed off to Dartford Rugby Club to play in five fantastic matches; each of them showing determination, teamwork, and a whole lot of skill along the way.
After a warm-up led by Leon, the morning started with a tough opening match, where our opponents came out strong. Despite our best efforts, we couldn’t quite find our rhythm and had to take a loss. But did that stop us? Absolutely not! The team rallied together, learning the rules from the first match, and came back stronger.
The next three games were nothing short of spectacular, winning them 3-0, 6-3 and 7-4! Our players showed fantastic passing, quick footwork, and some brilliant tries. Every single player gave it their all, tagging opponents with lightning speed and finding space to score. With each victory, confidence grew, and the teamwork on display was simply outstanding.
As we entered the final match, spirits were high and the team was ready to finish on a high note. It was a close and intense game, but despite their best efforts, our squad narrowly missed out on the win. However, there was no disappointment—just a great sense of achievement and pride in how they played throughout the tournament.
A huge well done to every player for their hard work and fantastic sportsmanship! Whether it was making a crucial tag, scoring a try, or cheering on teammates from the sidelines, everyone contributed to an amazing day of tag rugby and they made our school proud, especially being the first team to shake hands at the end of every match.
This festival was not just about winning; it was about growing as a team, improving skills, and having fun. And on all those fronts, our Year 5 & 6 team were champions!
Well done, team! We can’t wait for the next challenge!
