What Happened During Science and Art Week in the Nursery?
Little Birds have had a great time exploring science and art week!
This week, Little Birds inquired about the artist Takashi Murakami; we found out information about him, where he is from and closely observed pieces of artwork Takashi had created. We looked at Japan on Google Earth in comparison to where we live and our school. We had fun and learnt new creative skills when developing our own representations of this art.

Little Birds were inspired to decorate flowers and make flowers with various collage materials and paper. We made a large scale painting using different sized brushes and printing with bottle lids and shapes.

We also created artwork on the iPads!
Little Birds carried out science experiments.
We were excited to make our own bubble wands of different shapes.
We inquired whether we could make different shaped bubbles from the wands created by us from various materials. We observed how they floated in the atmosphere.

Little Birds enjoyed blowing bubbles to their friends as we stood in a circle, watching them float and then pop as they touched the floor.

The following day, we had to problem solve and complete the provocation about floating and sinking objects using real waste resources and objects from the class. We also talked about keeping the ocean and environment clean by always placing litter in the bin and recycling items as much as possible.

Little Birds listened to many exciting stories connected with colour, art and problem solving.

Well done Little Birds – amazing work!
