How can we rescue the bear?
Little Birds were excited to return after half-term and began their learning again with great enthusiasm.
This week the children explored an exciting provocation – Bear was stuck at the top of the tree! They exchanged many ideas and solutions as to how to help the bear.
They then worked together in teams outdoors to try their ideas. The children were brilliant communicators and worked together to solve the problem.
The children also discussed how the bear may have been feeling. This was a lovely introduction into our new school Transdisciplinary Theme: How We Express Ourselves!

They enjoyed looking at the story of ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. The children discussed and spoke about their feelings relating to the characters in the book.
Some children enjoyed retelling the story using the refrains and book language.

Three children enjoyed reading the story of “We’re Going on a Bear Hunt” to the whole class.
They carried out a movement task in the outdoors garden, acting out the story using their imagination and expressive skills when retelling the events from the Bear Hunt.
The children have been developing their mark making and writing skills when representing their favourite part of the story on paper by mapping out the story.

The children were able to recall the ‘Grass’, ‘River’,‘Mud’, ‘Forest’, ’Snowstorm’, ‘Cave’,and ‘House’ scenes, sequencing some events.

We are ‘readers’! Well done Little Birds!
