What do we use buckets for?
Little Birds have been investigating what buckets are used for. They inquired about which size bucket holds the most resources or water through prediction and exploration during a provocation. This activity supported their understanding of the world and scientific and creative thinking.

This week, Little Birds looked at the book ‘Billy’s Bucket’ and spoke about what happened in the story and the feelings of the characters.
Using their listening and communication skills, they were able to recall ideas about what they had heard.

The practitioners spoke about being a bucket filler, relating to being kind, caring and helpful in a principled way in the environment.
The children demonstrated these actions in their daily routine that continues to support their personal, social and emotional development as well as their well being.
They carried out many exciting activities, such as making buckets from waste resources and exploring different joining techniques.

The children enjoyed drawing what was inside their buckets after recalling what was in Billy’s bucket.

The children listened to other stories including buckets linked to the theme of the week and stories with dads as they have been thinking about Father’s Day.

They sang songs about ‘Harry and the bucketful of dinosaurs’ story – ‘Harry’s Bucket Song’. Little Birds also sang ‘If You’re a Filler and You Know It’ to a familiar nursery rhyme tune.

Little Birds enjoyed making their cards for Fathers day. Another successful week of learning had by all in the Nursery.
