New Beginnings: Signs of Spring and Easter
This week in Little Birds, we explored the celebration of Easter, focusing on themes of new life and renewal. We discussed the changes that happen at this time of year, such as the birth of lambs and chicks, as well as how Christians celebrate Easter.
To deepen our understanding, the children learnt about different festivals that are celebrated by people and families in the community. We observed information on the promethean board to learn more about these special celebrations.
The Little Birds eagerly shared their ideas and personal experiences, strengthening their communication skills while discussing this special place of worship and ways they celebrate Easter with their families.
Pupils shared their Easter bonnet making experiences that they carried out at home and brought them in for the Easter parade.
Little birds took on the role of a chef, mixing the ingredients together to make the mixture ,then they moulded it with their hands to make bear heads biscuit shapes, before being cooked in the oven. The Little birds will have an opportunity to buy their biscuit this week to raise money for the charity Ellenor.
This week, the children also explored their expressive arts and design skills through hands-on activities. Some of us painted beautiful blossom pictures using fine brushes and ready-mixed paint, practising precision and creativity.
The Little Birds were fascinated by the signs of spring in our garden and around the school grounds. They observed budding plants, colourful flowers and the delicate blossom trees, using iPads to photograph their discoveries.
During story time, we shared The Usborne Easter Story and Hot Cross Bunny, sparking conversations about Easter traditions and seasonal changes.
🌸🐣 Happy Easter, Little Birds! Have a wonderful break! 🐰🌿
