Kindness Artwork

In today’s fast-paced world, instilling values of kindness, empathy, and compassion in our children is more important than ever. At Leigh Academy Dartford, we believe that kindness is a seed that, when nurtured, grows into something beautiful. This year, to celebrate the power of kindness, we hosted a “Kindness Art Competition”—an event that brought together creativity, imagination, and heartwarming messages from our talented young students.

The idea for the competition was simple: encourage students to express their understanding of kindness through the universal language of art. In a time when the world can sometimes seem divided, we wanted to remind our students that small acts of kindness have a ripple effect, making the world a better place for everyone.

Art, being a tool of self-expression, seemed like the perfect medium for this message. Whether it’s a helping hand, a kind word, or an inclusive gesture, kindness takes many forms, and we wanted to see how our students visualised these acts in their everyday lives.

To ensure a fair and thoughtful selection, we enlisted a panel of judges consisting of our teachers. The judges were not only looking for artistic skill but also the message behind each piece. They considered how well the artwork captured the theme of kindness and how the student communicated their vision through their chosen medium.

After much deliberation, two winners were chosen, one from each Key Stage. However, all students who participated were celebrated for their efforts, with every piece displayed in a special gallery at the school.

The winning child from KS1 was Nathaniel from Giraffe class and KS2 Christian from Black Rhino Class.

In a special assembly on Friday, the winners were announced, and each received a prize. However, the true reward was seeing the joy on each student’s face as their artwork was celebrated.
