Welcome to our latest School Council blog! Over the past few months, we’ve been working hard to make our school an even better place for everyone. Here’s an update on our meetings and the exciting projects we’ve been discussing.
At our first meeting, we focused on what we wanted to achieve this year. We discussed different areas of school life that we could improve, from playground equipment to lunch menus. One of the most exciting ideas was creating a comic book section in the library! Many pupils expressed a love for comic book novels and comics, and we knew this would be a great way to encourage more reading.
Once we had a clear goal, we needed a plan. We brainstormed ways to raise funds for new comic books. Ideas included a dress-up day, a sponsored readathon, and a book sale. We also spoke with our reading crew about how to organize the new section and ensure it had a variety of comics for all ages.
We presented our plan to the headteacher, who gave us the green light to move forward. We’ve started reaching out to our school community to help start our collection. We are now reaching out to book suppliers and looking at donations to help build our collection. Additionally, we’re encouraging pupils to create their own comics—the best ones will be displayed in the library for everyone to enjoy!
We’re making great progress, but there’s still work to do. If you have any suggestions or would like to help, let us know! The School Council is all about your voice and making our school the best it can be.
Stay tuned for more updates, and happy reading!
