This week Little Birds have looked at books connected with Easter and spring animals. We talked about new life and what happens at this time of year. We focused on animals being born such as lambs, rabbits and chicks.
Also, we observed our local community church St Albans Road from inside the main entrance of the school to see what the building looked like. We then used nonfiction books to find out more about church buildings.
We also spoke about the special places we like to visit. We inquired about how Easter is celebrated in our places of worship and all around the world. Seb was interested in Churches in Uganda so we decided to look it up on the internet safely and make comparisons.
We developed our expressive arts and design skills in several ways. We enjoyed making Easter collages to represent springtime by selecting textured materials. Some of us painted daffodil pictures using fine brushes and ready mixed paint.
We continued to observe the signs of spring and were interested to see different plants, flowers and blossom trees found in and around the school grounds.
Little Birds used iPads to take photos to record what we had seen. We really enjoyed playing imaginatively with the rabbit and chick resources.
The books we shared this week at whole class time were:
- The Usbourne Easter Story
- Hot Cross Bunny
- A First Look at The Church
At the end of the week, we had an egg hunt in the nursery garden. Happy Easter Little Birds! Have a lovely break.
